During the 1988 Chicago winter market, Dave Polley, far right, president of Lees Carpet, showed his company’s new Stainmaster collection to a trio of DuPont executives. In the photo, from left, are Bob Axtell, Tom McAndrews and Ed Berman. Stainmaster was relatively new; DuPont introduced the breakthrough technology in the fall of 1986.
