Article MARIETTA, GA, May 15, 2010—Wools of New Zealand has launched an interactive, online training college designed to enhance the wool skills of retailer salespersons and mill representatives.

The Wool Benefits College is filled with valuable information culled from the accumulated knowledge of wool experts. Within the course are 10 modules that address the natural properties of wool, including wool fiber, sheep breeds, wool vs. synthetics and natural integrity. A final exam completes the course.

“Our new wool college is an excellent training tool,” explains Hallie Cobb, training and marketing director for Wools of New Zealand. “We encourage everyone associated with the sale and marketing of wool to take the course. Today’s consumers are savvier than ever, especially when it comes to family health and the environment. This tool gives retail salespersons the knowledge they need to sell wool with greater confidence.”

Upon hearing of the Wool College, store owners at Mercer Carpet One in Westminster, MD required their entire sales staff, in all three locations, to complete the course. One of the first graduates, Bob Wolf of Mercer Carpet One, has been in the carpet industry for 35 years. “The Wool College proved to be very beneficial,” says Wolf. “I found the course to be enlightening and interesting. In addition to learning some new facts, I was reminded of several wool benefits that I look forward to sharing with our customers.”

The Wool College is open to all retailers, but only those participating in Wools of New Zealand’s Premier Partner Program will be able to promote their sales staff as “Wool Specialists” once they have successfully completed the college. This designation is reserved exclusively for Premier Showrooms, mill representatives and mill agents who are partnering with Wools of New Zealand to promote and sell wool carpets and rugs.

The Wool College is free and accessible via Wools of New Zealand’s website at www.woolsnz.com. Showrooms interested in learning more about Wools of New Zealand’s Premier Partner Program can contact Hallie Cobb at Hallie@woolcarpetnz.com / 404-667-9531.
