| Article | With Surfaces 2010 in the books, all eyes fall to next year when the show moves to a new venue for the first time in its 22 years in Vegas. Surfaces 2011 will take place down the Vegas Strip at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Jan. 25 to 28. Dana Teague, show director for Surfaces’ owner Hanley Wood, said Mandalay Bay will be called home for at least the next five years as a contract is signed through 2015. In addition, it will be held in conjunction with Hanley Wood’s Stone Expo/Marmomacc Americas show. “So there will be even more products under one roof,” she said. “The more inclusive we can make the shows the better it is for everyone.” Based on initial reactions from exhibitors who took advantage of a tour of the facility, no one seems to mind. A number of executives told FCNews they were looking forward to the change and praised the new venue as being more spacious and friendly for both exhibitors and attendees. One of the main reasons is that while the show will still be spread over two floors, each level has 30-foot ceilings, meaning the downstairs will no longer feel as if it is the basement.
