| Article | PASADENA, CALIF.—Over the years, Floor Covering Soft has been focusing on both making its estimating software easier to use and smoothing its integration with users’ existing IT solutions, noted Steven Wang, the company’s chief developer and founder. With the launch of its latest FloorEstimate, the Pro 2010 edition (FEP2010) program, both goals are being met. “FEP2010 stands out from competing products,” he explained, “due to its versatility as a Web-based enterprise estimating application that can be collaboratively worked on, edited and updated from any location, allowing everyone involved to share and be notified of the most current information.” Wang referred to the new program as the next generation flooring layout and estimating program for commercial and retail applications. Live tutorials, and free trial software CDs will be available at Floor Covering Soft’s booth, G2426, during Surfaces, Feb. 2 to 4 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas. Wang pointed to examples in four business aspects where FloorEstimate has provided the best solution: • Major chain store contractors. “Technological advantage is always important, especially during these tough times,” he explained. “Well-established companies are taking this time to deploy software solutions to streamline takeoff estimating. We have helped a major contractor of a nationwide chain by automating its daily measure estimating quotes to more than 200 stores last year.” • Multi-family. Brian Caress, vice president of Redi Carpet, which is headquartered in Stafford, Tex., but has operations across five states, said of the software, “We have trained and deployed it to our regional state offices, and have found this centralized enterprise-level estimating solution extremely helpful in managing estimates and diagrams of our cross-state, multifamily flooring operations, especially over the Web.” • Commercial. Bill Koch, chief estimator at the Palm Beach, Fla., branch of Acousti Engineering, a flooring contractor with offices in three states, said the company deployed FloorEstimate Pro in all its 18 branches last year. This move allowed it “to capitalize on our long term relationship with Floor Covering Soft for its commercial estimating solution at the enterprise level.” • Mobile Solutions. Wang said FEP2010’s onsite measuring features and integration with Disto Laser meters has been enhanced. In addition, floor and sub-floor conditions can be reported with an estimate. It also interfaces with Quick-Books, so transferring estimates to the accounting program can be done with a single click. The new program can be purchased on demand with a monthly subscription. Getting started is simple, Wang remarked, saying the FEP2010 Retail Edition system starts at $49 per month. “There is no big upfront investment.” Along with live tutorials during Surfaces, Floor Covering Soft will have a number of show specials for attendees.
