Article Surfaces 2010 is on track to be one of the best and most relevant shows to date. With the economy still in flux, Surfaces will return to its grass roots, the floor covering retailer. With several key and new exhibitors returning to the show and the addition of many strategic educational offerings, Surfaces is definitely taking the necessary steps to ensure it remains the primary catalyst in which directions are set, business gets done and, most importantly, money can be made. But only by being there.

Surfaces will again boast the largest floor in the industry dedicated to flooring. Thousands of the latest products in every category from the industry’s top suppliers will be on display: carpet, tile, hardwood, rugs, laminate and countless others.

As the need for differentiation intensifies, floor covering retailers will have the opportunity to browse through the New Product Showcase to see the hottest and most innovative products before they hit the market. Surfaces will also offer retailers a “one-stop-shop” experience their customers are seeking with the “Above the Baseboard” pavilion. Products featured in this area include countertops, cabinets, window and wall coverings as well as other decorative accessories consumers are looking for in addition to floor covering when building or remodeling their homes.

The Surfaces 2010 Education Program will again be a highlight. Surfaces will kick off the show with an opening day general session featuring a retail power panel discussing the challenges faced during the current economy and strategies used to weather the storm. This session will be packed with solid advice for retailers to take back to their businesses and implement for immediate growth.

The program will offer more than 40 workshops, seminars and mini sessions categorized into five different tracks—business, sales, marketing, design and installation—providing invaluable information required to run a successful floor covering business.

New this year are four live demonstration stages. These stages will focus on four critical areas vital to today’s floor covering professional:

1. Business and Technology

2. Sustainability

3. Design and Trends

4. Installation

These stages offer attendees the ability to get expert education without ever leaving the show floor.

The World Floor Covering Association is a driving force behind the success of Surfaces, and as the official sponsor of the show continues to help shape each year’s event and its future direction.
