| Article | Eliane, one of the largest and most progressive porcelain tile manufacturers in the world, has been recognized for the fifth time since 1998 with a prestigious Fritz Muller Award for its EcoStone Series of porcelain tiles. In the 16th annual edition of the Fritz Muller Awards, granted each year by the Santa Caterina Environmental Foundation (FATMA), Eliane’s EcoStone series was prized as “the top ecological porcelain product from Brazil,” in the Ecological Products category. On August 31, Eliane CEO Edson Gaidzinski will accept the 2009 award on behalf of Eliane in a ceremony attended by Mr. Luiz Henrique da Silva, governor of Santa Catarina. Eliane’s EcoStone is a beautiful new product from the Brazilian manufacturer with up to 60 percent post-industrial recycled raw material. EcoStone is offered in four modern colors, Preto, Sepia, Mocca and Bianco (pictured above), and is manufactured in a sustainable process with 90 percent of the water reused, as well energy savings of up to 50 percent each cycle. EcoStone, the 2009 Fritz Muller Award recipient as the first ecological porcelain from Brazil, is ideal for indoor, outdoor, residential and commercial applications. Eliane was the first ceramic tile producer in the world to receive ISO 14001 certification for meeting specific requirements of environmental facility management. In the last 10 years, Eliane has recycled 3.8 million tons of paper, 1 million tons of plastic and 2.3 million tons of metal. From the water used in overall production, 60 percent is recycled and reused, and the other 40 percent is filtered and poured back clean into the Tigre River. Prior Fritz Muller Awards for Eliane include the “Ecology Award” in recognition of these recycling programs, and the “Sustainable Development Award,” delivered by the Brazilian National Manufacturers Association. Eliane is a global leader in the manufacturing of porcelain tile for residential and commercial installations with has a strong distribution network across North America.
