Article NORTHBROOK, ILL.—Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the company whose logo appears on just about every type of electrical device in the country and which earlier this year got into the certification and setting of standards for green products—including flooring (FCNews Jan. 26/Feb. 2) is sponsoring a Webinar on “Understanding the Green Marketplace.”

Conducted by the UL Environment (ULE) division, the one-hour session is scheduled for Aug. 4, at 12 p.m. (EST) and will provide an introduction for the green building product industry about environmental claims, the types and differences between eco-labels, and the various options companies have for making environmental marketing claims.

Some of the topics to be covered include an overview of standards and label programs in the industry; advantages and disadvantages of various standard and label approaches; voluntary and regulatory schemes for making environmental claims; what a company can do to credibly promote green products characteristics, and UL’s sustainability product services.
