Article HICKSVILLE, N.Y.—Armstrong’s engineered hardwood manufacturing plant in Center, Tex., and Mannington’s wood operations have each received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody certification.

“Our compliance with the rigorous FSC process gives customers added confidence to promote Armstrong and Bruce wood to consumers interested in green products,” noted Daniel Call, vice president of wood product management.

Built in the early 1950s, the facility is Armstrong’s oldest hardwood plant. The 200-plus employees make residential and commercial flooring for the Armstrong, Bruce and Capella hardwood lines. Call said the certification means the plant can now produce FSC-certified products in multiple domestic species, including oak, maple, hickory and walnut.

Dan Natkin, director of Mannington’s hardwood business, said customers are becoming more savvy about the products they use and Mannington is committed to complying with or exceeding applicable laws and regulations, including social laws related to its wood operations and procurement. “Offering consumers FSC- certified choices,” he explained, “not only gives them more options when shopping for floors, but it confirms Mannington’s longstanding environmental belief that ‘Actions Speak.’”

Natkin added the company will offer an FSC Pure option on selected product lines.
