Article | MARIETTA, GA, June 24, 2009— Creative Accents Area Rugs, California City, CA, has become a partner with Wools of New Zealand. A high-end, custom manufacturer, Creative Accents will carry the Wools of New Zealand Brand on four collections of rugs, including the Rick Lee Collection from the award winning San Francisco industrial and furniture designer. Established in 1963 by Ken Hensler, who made his first custom shag area rug on his wife's sewing machine with scrap yarn, Creative Accents is still family-owned and operated under the leadership of Mike Hensler, son of the founder. “Creative Accents is a high-end custom manufacturer with a real passion for excellence,” says Elise Demboski, Executive Director of North America for Wools of New Zealand. “By partnering with Wools of New Zealand, it will be purchasing accredited wool through our fully integrated supply chain. The integrity of Wools of New Zealand ’s value chain enables Creative Accents to promote the high quality of its product as well as the accredited virtues of the fiber,” Demboski explains. “We decided to partner with Wools of New Zealand because it represents generations of New Zealand farmers, who are producing the finest wool in the world. It will bring it to us for our third generation business,” says Ryan Beauchamp, vice president of Creative Accents, who is married to Katie, the daughter of Mike Hensler, who is also active in the company. “Being a Wools of New Zealand partner is the perfect marriage of material and craftsmanship,” adds Beauchamp. “Being able to trace the wool back to its origin is important to our consumers. We know from our dealers that we have an affluent, sophisticated clientele that is aware of the environmental and quality characteristics of New Zealand wool. We are excited to be able to tell the story of Wools of New Zealand to our dealers and consumers,” he stresses. “It is through Wools of New Zealand ’s purchase by Wool Partners International that we’ve been able to reach beyond the finished product to supply New Zealand wool to our partners,” Demboski says. “This completes the circle and enables our partners to ensure the environmental, animal welfare, social and economic integrity of the wool with traceability back to growers. Much more about our integrity program will be announced at Surfaces 2010.” Creative Accents makes its rugs in a series of painstaking steps that further differentiate the beauty of New Zealand wool. The company has its own dye house where all its yarns are colored. An in-house color laboratory provides a stream of new shades and the ability to custom match hues for its clients. The company is working with its suppliers to develop a dye process that will satisfy the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and is exploring ways to both reduce the water and energy the dye process uses while developing ways to recycle the water. Creative Accents’ mission is to provide its customers with the style, shape, size and color choices needed to create beautiful area rugs. Catering to individual creativity, it manufactures rugs one at a time, by hand, using a combination of small, table mounted and hand-held tufting machines. Each rug is then sheared, hand sculpted and edged to specification. Because Creative Accents controls every step, it is able to move from design concept to delivery in one to three weeks.
