Article RICHFIELD, OHIO—Several floor covering professionals in Ohio are the first in the nation to succeed in earning a joint certification for commercial resilient flooring installation established by Armstrong Floor Products and INSTALL.

Members of the Ohio and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters (OVRCC), which makeup the INSTALL Ohio program, achieved the certifications over the last two months. OVRCC is the installation and training arm of INSTALL Ohio. “This program allows us to supply our flooring employers with the best trained workforce for the local commercial floor covering industry,” said Robert Peto, executive secretary-treasurer of OVRCC.

As part of the Armstrong-INSTALL partnership, Armstrong is backing up the workmanship of professionals who are certified under the plan. Should an Armstrong commercial flat lay flooring job fail after being installed by a certified installer, Armstrong will provide up to $2,500 in materials to repair/replace the project, and the installer contractor will supply all the necessary labor.

”There is tremendous benefit in partnering with experts such as Armstrong to expose INSTALL flooring professionals to such a comprehensive program,” said INSTALL director, John McGrath. “This is clearly a win-win for all involved, especially the customer, who will get excellent work by a contractor using INSTALL/Armstrong certified flooring professionals.”

These specially certified professionals also will have access to the INSTALL marketing program and will have earned all the benefits of the Armstrong Certified Installer Program. McGrath said the partnership will be leveraged throughout North America at United Brotherhood of Carpenters training centers offering the flooring curriculum by which INSTALL professionals are taught.
