Article NEW YORK—Green Depot, a supplier of environmentally friendly and sustainable building products, services and solutions, has merged with Greenmaker to create one of the nation’s largest suppliers of green building materials.

Through the agreement, Green Depot will operate in the Chicago area as Greenmaker, while the Greenmaker Web site will eventually link to www.greendepot.com. Ori Sivan and Joe Silver, Greenmaker’s founders, will become Green Depot’s director of market development and Chicago branch manager, overseeing the Midwest region, respectively. All other current Greenmaker employees will continue in their existing roles.

Green Depot serves homeowners and residential/commercial builders nationwide through its Web site and five outlets in the Northeast. It also has 10 distribution centers in the mid-Atlantic region. In 2009, it plans to open three retail outlets in Albany, N.Y., Newark, Del., and a flagship store in Manhattan.

Since 2005, Greenmaker has served customers in Chicago through its retail store, ecommerce site and direct delivery.
