| Article | DEER PARK, N.Y.—Salesmaster Associates has broken ground on the construction of a major new distribution SuperCenter in Chicopee, Mass. The result of increased industry demand for the company’s flooring products, the new, state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot facility has been designed to effectively handle Salesmaster’s rapidly growing business in the New England market, noted Steven Kurtz, president. “Salesmaster’s overall New England warehouse capacity will more than double,” he explained. “Chicopee’s centralized location will result in faster service for commercial floor covering contractors, installation workrooms, home improvement centers and retail floor covering stores.” The New England SuperCenter is expected to go on line by the beginning of March 2009. The move represents a strategic commitment that further positions Salesmaster as a major Northeastern wholesale flooring distributor, noted Kurtz. The company currently has distribution sites in Albany, N.Y.; Woburn, Mass., and Hartford, Conn., as well as its Deer Park (Long Island) N.Y. headquarters. The move greatly strengthens Salesmaster’s commitment to the New England market, noted Kurtz. “It consolidates the human resources of sales, architectural and design staff, drivers, branch managers and business developers together under one roof to deliver better service and internal/external communication. Additionally, we intend to add new sales personnel, architectural staff and technical field specialists. “We evaluated the feasibility of the move for nearly two years,” he added. “Site studies indicated that Chicopee was the best location and that constructing a new facility was brick-and-mortar evidence of our growth and of our vision and commitment to the New England market. Salesmaster already has the product lines, experienced personnel and mindset of total customer satisfaction to become the premier New England regional floor covering distributor.
