Article BROOKFIELD, WIS.—The Wisconsin Floor Covering Association (WiFCA) has set the dates for its 2009 trade show. The event will take place at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., from Feb. 25 to 26.

“We’ve partnered with Destination Wisconsin, a trade show management company, to assist us,” said Bob Steinberg of Sergenians Floor Coverings and trade show chairperson. “While we utilized some of its services last year, we’ve asked for more of its input to find a facility to satisfy our needs for the 2009 show. Our ultimate goal is to find a permanent home that we can use every year, a venue retailers will become familiar with and be able to plan for well in advance.”

Chula Vista has a 90,000-square-foot facility called the Dells Center which is about a half mile from its resort, he explained. In comparison, last year’s event at the Marriott had 30,000 square feet, and the year before the organization used the 20,000 square feet at the Ho-Chunk Hotel & Convention Center.

The revised show hours are Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shuttle buses to the Ho-Chunk Casino will be available for anyone who would like casino entertainment for the evening, as will a shuttle bus to transfer people back and forth from the hotel to the Dells Center during convention hours. The show will also feature seminars at additional times in order to allow more retailers to attend.

Some of the highlights for 2009 will include a lunch buffet available in the facility, “so even though the Dells Center is not attached to the hotel, quick meals will be readily available for retailers and their staffs,” Steinberg said. “Our preliminary plans are to offer this lunch free to exhibitors and their staffs who pre-register online, and to offer free lunches to retailers who are WiFCA members.”

An optional dinner and guest speaker will be on tap for Wednesday night, he added, so vendors/retailers will be able to have a group function where they can socialize/network.
