| Article | DALLAS—She was a loving mom, admired and respected by her peers and colleagues, but on Nov. 11 her life, as well as that of one of her daughters, was tragically taken by a crazed gunman. Jeanne Carroll was 52; her daugher Janice Leigh Hill was just 24. Carroll spent her entire floor covering career at Feizy Import & Export Co. She joined the area rug company in 1995 as director of advertising and marketing, and began making an impact at the mill from day one. “Jeanne will be remembered for her fierce love of her family, the pride she took in her work and her infectious laugh,” said Leah Feizy, assistant to the president. “She was an inspirational leader to her Feizy Rugs staff members and colleagues with a vibrant, larger-than-life personality. She will be missed deeply by all.” Carroll was instrumental in the creation of Feizy’s award-winning Home Catalogue and in securing the company’s four-time recognition by the Accessories Resource Team (ART) as Area Rug Manufacturer of the Year. John Feizy, president and CEO, said, “Jeanne’s contributions to Feizy and to the industry as a whole cannot be overstated. She was a loyal, dedicated and talented woman who was full of life. Running a family business has its ups and downs. We work together so closely that we truly feel that family bond, which makes the loss of one of our members all the more devastating. Every member of the Feizy family mourns her passing, but we know we were all richer for having known her.” Leah Feizy added Carroll’s “extensive product knowledge and professional drive made her an indispensable resource not only to the Feizy family, but also within the area rug industry. Jeanne was hands-on from the beginning to the end of each project. She worked long hours and when she wasn’t at work, she was spending quality time with her family.” Caroll is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Heuss; husband, John Wayne Carroll; daughter Jennifer Carroll Fratar; son John Wayne Carroll II, and grandson, Zane Bandfield. She also leaves behind a sister, Bobbie Taylor, and brothers John, David and Danny Heuss. The family has created the “Memorial In Celebration Of Jeanne And Janice Carroll” fund through Wells Fargo bank. The money will be used to cover some of the burial costs, as well as to support victims of domestic violence as Jeanne’s daughter was a social worker for child protective services. The family also plans to donate some of the money to causes benefiting the children of whom Janice was so fond—many autistic or otherwise gifted.
