| Article | W.F. Taylor Co. was focused on safe, environmentally friendly products long before it became fashionable to do so. In fact, Taylor was offering a complete line of solvent-free adhesives before solvents began to come under attack. And while many companies now boast their green adhesives, Taylor claims to be the only flooring adhesive company that has voluntarily taken the initiative to have its entire product line tested and third-party certified by the GreenGuard Environmental Institute as safe for the environment and ensuring good indoor air quality. Taylor likes to refer to itself as the undisputed leader in the development of green or environmentally responsible flooring adhesives for almost two decades. It introduced the first solvent-free line of flooring adhesives in the late 1980s and early 1990s with its Envirotec-Health-Guard brand. These products quickly became the benchmark in the flooring industry for environmentally safe adhesives. To this day they are often asked for by the name Envirotec because the name is synonymous with environmentally safe adhesives. Taylor continued its commitment to the environment in 2000 with the development of its Meta-Tec chemistry. The company developed the Meta-Tec line to offer the flooring industry environmentally safe, ultra high performance products that cross-link to create high strength, waterproof bonds. This chemistry is so innovative that Taylor now holds two U.S. patents for this technology. Sustainability was an achieved goal as this patented innovation features not only solvent-free, higher-performance adhesives, but also incorporates renewable resource raw materials to reduce the dependence upon petrochemicals. The Meta-Tec line continues the lead of the Envirotec-HealthGuard products as the flooring industry benchmark for adhesive excellence and environmental consciousness. Taylor has three primary brand names for families of products that are widely recognized for their environmental safety. These are Envirotec-HealthGuard Adhesives, Meta-Tec Cross-Linking Adhesives and Touchdown Specialty Products. The company receives many product inquiries based solely on the green reputation of its product line. However, Taylor is not content to rest on its environmental laurels; commitment to nonhazardous and advanced technology high-performance products is the company’s accepted norm. In addition to its environmentally safe products, Taylor places a high priority on waste reduction and efficiency in its manufacturing.
