| Article | BALTIMORE—L. Fishman & Son has agreed to purchase the assets and business of Clark Continental’s Flooring Solutions division. Clark, headquartered in Pittsburgh, has five branches in western Pennsylvania, Ohio and northern West Virginia. Terms were not disclosed. Both firms specialize in distributing leading brands of commercial flooring, flooring accessories, adhesives, ceramic setting materials, sub floor prep, water proofing systems, cushion, floor protection film, supplies and tools. “The addition of Clark Flooring will complement our existing business growth strategy and will give us an immediate foothold in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia market places,” said Bob Wagner, Fishman’s president. “Clark’s reputation and business philosophy are perfectly aligned with our business vision. “We look forward to the new opportunities the combined strengths of our companies will create.” “The acquisition by Fishman is a perfect fit with our strategic growth plans as the solution provider distributor to the professional floor covering trade,” said Devon Clark, president of Clark Flooring Solutions, who will remain with the merged company as vice president/director of marketing. “There are numerous new suppliers in the transaction,” Wagner said. “Both companies will pool their resources, and we will emerge with the best available solutions for our customers. There’s no rush on our part to make any changes. Regarding common territories, there was only a small overlap in State College, Pa.” At this time, he added, the plan is for Clark’s personnel to continue to handle the territory. Clark’s five branches will eventually be called Clark-Fishman Flooring Solutions. As far as the name change is concerned, Wagner noted, there is a process of phasing it in. “For the near future, Clark will remain Clark Flooring Solutions. The presence of the Fishman name will be slow over time. Clark is a great company and there is no benefit to forcing change.” With the Clark acquisition, Fishman will expand from 20 locations to 25 serving the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern part of the U.S. For more information about L.
