| Article | WASHINGTON, DC - The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council is pleased to announce that its 2008 Beyond GreenTM High-Performance Building Awards reception will be held in conjunction with an educational briefing for lawmakers and the public on Capitol Hill. The luncheon briefing will take place on February 26, 2009 in the Rayburn House Office Building. Congressman Russ Carnahan of Missouri (confirmed) and Congresswoman Judy Biggert of Illinois (invited) will introduce the program, which will focus on obstacles and opportunities for delivering high-performance buildings in our communities. Award winners will be invited to present their projects as exemplary models for high-performance buildings and initiatives. Winners of both the 2007 and 2008 Beyond GreenTM Awards will be highlighted with a poster display. The Beyond GreenTM High-Performance Building Awards program is open to all and offers two entry categories: High-Performance Initiatives and High-Performance Buildings. Both categories will be evaluated based on the successful application of the whole building approach and on energy and environmental considerations. The deadline for participation in the Awards Program is October 15, 2008. Winning entries will be posted on the Whole Building Design Guide (www.wbdg.org), on SBIC's Web site and newsletter, and will be featured at Ecobuild America 2009.
