Article CHICAGO, August 15, 2008-- Italian stone and tile manufacturer GranitiFiandre has launched a website for their customers designed to provide information on their environmental efforts and assist with understanding and purchasing sustainable surfacing materials. The website is located at www.gflegacyofgreen.com.

“Our sales team has been flooded with questions about the meaning of environmental statements in the media,” said Jeanne Nichols, vice-president of sales and marketing for GranitiFiandre in the US. “Customers are eager to make environmentally- responsible purchases, but often lack the understanding of the many factors that contribute to the production of a sustainable product. The Legacy of Green website is one more way that we can give our customers the support they need.”

GranitiFiandre’s Legacy of Green website provides details of their worldwide corporate environmental stewardship, including materials usage efficiency, water resource management, air quality protection, and energy efficiency.

The site also offers guidelines for understanding the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, as well as insight into evaluating the integrity of environmental claims. Information on the company’s environmentally-advanced products made with non-virgin raw materials is available on the site, along with a search function for their nationwide distributor network.

GranitiFiandre’s European facilities operate under the guidelines of UNI EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System. They also hold the European Union Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) designation for exceeding minimum legal compliance and continuously improving environmental performance. On September 12, 2000, GranitiFiandre became the first porcelain tile manufacturer in the world to achieve the specific requirements of UNI EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.

GranitiFiandre brought its Legacy of Green stateside in 2003 with the construction of a new facility in Cumberland County, Tennessee, designed with state-of-the-art environmental technology to ensure sustainable manufacturing processes.

“The Legacy of Green website is the newest piece in a complementary package of environmental efforts that bring together the people, systems, and values of GranitiFiandre’s organization. Our environmental achievements continue to move forward and that’s a legacy we’re proud of,” said Nichols.
