Article Lebanon, IN July 21, 2008 - Both consumers and early reviewers alike agree that the Festool KAPEX 10” Sliding Dual Compound Miter Saw, released to end users on July 1st, has effectively raised the bar for miter saw performance across the industry. KAPEX has the accuracy and precision of a table saw, the cutting capacity of a much larger miter saw and the ease and portability of a hand-held saw.

With its unique forward rail design, the KAPEX requires zero rear clearance to operate and can cut nested crown molding over 6-1/2” or standing base molding up to 4-3/4”; a cutting capacity which exceeds that of many 12” saws. The large base with rubber feet won’t slip and the robust, wide stance of the rails greatly reduces head play, providing maximum stability for precision cutting. Weighing in at just under 47lbs, the KAPEX is light, compact and easily transportable to any jobsite.

Typical of early KAPEX reviews, Justin Fink, of Fine Homebuilding Magazine, states that, “In this extremely competitive tool category, the KAPEX is certainly going to be the saw to beat.”

Martin Johnson, Vice President of Brand Marketing at FESTOOL, says that “The response from all corners of the industry has been incredible. Anyone that’s been able to use the saw, whether a reviewer, a professional tradesman or a hobbyist, has said that KAPEX literally changes the way they perceive miter saws and miter saw performance.”

Industry expert Gary Katz says, “I found the saw cut smoother and straighter than any 10 inch miter saw I've ever used, and much better than a 12 in. saw.”
