Article | LANCASTER, PA.—Armstrong is giving its retailers the chance to win significant monetary rewards and prizes during the fall selling season through one of the most exciting promotional retail competitions in recent floor covering industry history. The four- month competition, dubbed ‘What’s the Big Deal?’ will run from Aug. 1 through Nov. 30. This Armstrong-funded promotion, marketed through Floor Covering News, is designed to recognize individual sales professionals who sell Armstrong hardwood, laminate and sheet vinyl. Paul Murfin, vice president of sales and distribution, noted that the competition is a very strong avenue in which to introduce new and unique products into the Armstrong portfolio while raising the level of exposure to those products over the next several months. “Our goal is to support product sales with the best promotional opportunities in the floor covering industry and to motivate double-digit sales increases for many of the retailers that participate.” A retailer can sell designated products—including top-sellers in Armstrong and Bruce—to earn double reward points during the promotional period. A Grand Prize Winner could win up to a whopping $94,000. Although the contest was announced only recently, the response has been overwhelming. Armstrong had almost 50 registrants in the first couple of hours and expects to see that number grow significantly as the contest continues. “Ultimately, we wanted to do something fun and create excitement in the industry by helping our loyal dealers make more money with Armstrong,” said Mike Beavers, general manager, sales and strategy. “We focused on ‘What’s the Big Deal?’ because it allowed us to put the bulk of the money directly into prizes for the retail salesperson. The campaign utilizes the combined sales efforts of Armstrong and our distributor partners.” Carlene Moloney, manager, Marketing Communications, believes the competition will benefit and reward everyone on all levels. “This trade campaign is utilizing new to the industry marketing techniques that keeps the focus on our retailers. The goal is to give the dealer as much selling potential as possible.” How it works All retail salespeople are eligible to participate by registering at www.armstrongrewards.com. Players earn points by selling eligible Armstrong wood, laminate and sheet vinyl products during the promotional period. As well, retailers can earn double reward points by selling specially designated products. Monthly cash prizes are awarded throughout the competition and three grand prizes will be awarded to the top wood, laminate and sheet vinyl salesperson. The top salesperson will receive the distinguished honor of Best Overall Grand Prize Winner and have the opportunity to earn very large cash prizes—up to $94,000. Signup will continue throughout the competition. Interested participants can log on to www.retailerchallenge.com for details including how to play, eligible products, the various prizes that will be awarded as well as rules and regulations.
