| Article | NEW YORK—At a luncheon held at The Water Club restaurant here, the Greater New York Floor Coverers Industry Promotional Fund announced this year’s recipients of the 24th Annual Francis J.P. McHale Scholarship Awards. The two four-year scholarship winners are Stephanie Maggio and Jason Santillo, who each will receive $3,500 a year for school. The Greater New York Floor Coverers trustees also designated two special one-year scholarships to be presented for the 2008/09 school year with the recipients being Jonathan Ramirez and Samantha Figueroa, the first in her family to attend college. The 2008 co-honoree of the Francis J.P. McHale Scholarship Award is Vito Luppino, who was honored for his lifetime of devotion and service to the floor coverers industry. “Today is always the highlight of our year,” said David Meberg, president and CEO of Consolidated Carpet and a fund trustee. “Today, we award our 49th, 50th, 51st and 52nd scholarships. That’s pretty great.” Luppino said of the scholarship awards, “the fact that we can do this is just great for the industry.” |
