| Article | The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA), the largest tile contractors association in the world, sponsored the 2008 Harley Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy motorcycle giveaway at Coverings 2008 in Orlando, Florida. The NTCA partnered in the giveaway program with fellow exhibitor Alibaba.com, the world’s largest B2B marketplace for global trade. The Harley, valued at $18,000, was presented to first-time attendee and retailer, Matt Vann, during the four-day event. “I was shocked when I heard I had won the motorcycle,” said Vann. “I really thought someone was playing a joke on me. The funny thing is, I don’t even know how to ride one. Now that I have such a cool model, I want to take lessons as soon as possible.” With an average turnout of more than 35,000 attendees (a 3.8 percent increase from last year), Coverings proved to be the ultimate international tile and stone experience. Coverings, sponsored in part by the NTCA, attracted innovative tile, stone and allied product manufacturers, retailers and distributors from around the globe, despite unfavorable economic reports. “I was so impressed and amazed at the comprehensive and extensive array of product that is featured,” said Vann. Attending the show really helped open my eyes to the new and exciting trends and what I should have in my store to help serve my customers even better.” NTCA is a non-profit trade association serving every segment of the industry, spearheading education for the professional installation of ceramic tile and allied products.
