Article | DALTON GA, May 29, 2008—Improvements and upgrades for Beaulieu’s Memofil Plant in Dalton, GA are coming a little sooner than had been planned, due to a fire that hit the facility on May 14. Officials confirmed today that the facility suffered damage to five extrusion lines for its production of polypropylene and nylon. These lines were situated separately from the main part of the plant. There were no injuries to any of plant’s 300 employees and limited production resumed within five hours. Full production is anticipated on the affected lines after work is completed later this year. Employees displaced by the fire have been reassigned temporarily to other Beaulieu plants in the area. There will be no interruption of shipments and a moderate loss of inventory due to the fire, according to Ralph Boe, President and CEO. Beaulieu of America is the third largest carpet manufacturer in the world, employing over 7,000 people in 30 facilities. |
