| Article | The PRESIDENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP was established in 2007 in memory of all fallen CFI beloved Presidents. #CFI’s 2nd President (1998-2000), Doug Amundson, #8 passed away in 2007 at the age of 60. CFI’s 5th President (2004-2006), Andrew Aufiero #220 also passed away in 2007 at the age of 53. The PRESIDENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP is awarded annually by CFI in honor of Past President’s who served the organization with distinction. Doug and Andrew’s love of installation and their determination to encourage and train flooring installers led Glenn Olsen to steer the committee to establish the annual scholarship. Because of the financial support of those in attendance at the 2007 Convention and remembrance gifts received from Doug and Andrew’s many friends, the scholarship fund was established for an installer to attend the CFI Convention. The installer who is selected will receive full payment of all Convention fees, lodging for 4 nights and transportation expense. Airfare will be booked at the discretion of the Committee. Qualification Rules: CFI Certified Installer who has not previously attended a CFI Convention. The Installer must possess the determination to be successful, the desire to learn and exhibit the traits that made Andrew endeared to all of us; a smile; enthusiasm; a drive to be the best and the ability to communicate and share with others. The Installer commits to attending the Convention from July 31st through August 2nd, 2008. Nomination form must be received by July 7th, 2008. Late nominations are not considered. Nomination form must be completed and emailed, faxed or mailed to CFI National Office. We look forward to receiving numerous applications that will enhance educational knowledge of the qualified installer, allow him or her to participate with others who exhibit the pride of craftsmanship and be willing to share these traits with others. This experience of an opportunity to network with industry representatives and flooring installers, who believe in and practice the CFI goals and principles, will be long remembered. The fund was established with a financial commitment from CFI members. Contributions are welcome and will be collected annually at the CFI Convention for future scholarships.
