| Article | LATICRETE, a global leader in the manufacturing of innovative systems for the installation of ceramic tile and stone, has made a generous contribution to the Green Mountain Club’s, “Second Century Campaign: Securing the Future of the Long Trail,” a volunteer led effort to help protect the nation’s oldest long distance hiking trail that runs 270 miles through the scenic Green Mountains of Vermont. The Green Mountain Club, founded in 1910 to build, maintain and protect Long Trail, launched the Second Century Campaign in June of 2007 at its 97th annual meeting, in an effort to increase the club’s endowments for trail and shelter maintenance, land stewardship and to rebuild the Marvin B. Gameroff Hiking Center which was lost to fire in 2003. LATICRETE Chairman and CEO, David Rothberg, himself an avid outdoor enthusiast, quickly became involved and LATICRETE joined the cause with a major corporate leadership gift to help preserve Long Trail. “David Rothberg is terrific,” said Ben Rose, executive director of the Green Mountain Club. “From the moment I called to try to schedule a meeting with him, everybody I dealt with at LATICRETE was super professional, and I could tell it was a special company. When I met with David and told him about the Long Trail Second Century Campaign, his response was enthusiastic and his decision to support the campaign was not only generous, it was quick. In a campaign such as this one, it is precisely that sort of support – generous and decisive -- that helps the most. A class act – and you can quote me.” The mission of the Green Mountain Club is to make the Vermont mountains play a larger part in the life of the people by protecting and maintaining the Long Trail System and fostering, through education, the stewardship of Vermont’s hiking trails and mountains.
