| Article | The Applied Coatings Group (ACG), a decorative glass product line manufacturer, has launched the Color Mirage™ glass blocks. The Color Mirage glass blocks are a never before seen line of decorative glass blocks that manage the reflection, transmission and absorption of light using dichroic thin film technology. The result: each glass block has its own brilliant color characteristics based on the glass pattern selected, the design of the color and the intensity and direction of the light source. The light-infused glass blocks actually appear to change color as the viewer's perspective to the product changes or the light sources relative to the product change in direction or intensity. In the manufacturing process, each block is dichroically coated on the inside surface of the block thus protecting the coating from any damage. Available in a multitude of glass patterns, sizes and colors, these products are ideal for interior use such as kitchen counters and backsplashes, interior shower walls, partition walls and accessory pieces. Testing of ACG’s glass block against the standard for insulated glass windows is underway. When that testing is successfully completed, the Color Mirage glass block product line will be offered for exterior applications as well as interior. The glass blocks from Color Mirage will change in perceived color based on the specific light source, the angle of the light, the angle of the viewer, and the texture of the surface. Depending on the pattern, each glass block will transit or reflect different subtle characteristics, thus the name … Color Mirage.
