Article Kansas City, Mo.—The International Certified Floorcovering Installers As-sociation’s (CFI) sales associate flooring installation certification program is now available in a wide variety of courses. The workshops present the latest in techniques and technical information and the training includes ceramic, hardwood, laminate carpet, resilient, estimating and more.

Developing a partnership between sales associates and the installation team sets the stage for a hassle-free installation and a satisfied customer who returns to purchase more flooring, noted Jim Walker, CFI’s CEO. “It’s CFI’s goal to assist in enhancing the knowledge and skills of the sales team to create the best informed sales force with regard to installation.” Instructors Walker and Jon Namba share the elements of an installation that creates a customer who returns because of the flooring experience she received. This starts at the time of the sale by painting a picture for the installers. “If it doesn’t start right,” he said, “it most certainly will not finish right.”

Understanding what the installation professional can deliver and estimating the job properly are keys to a successful operation, noted Walker. “The two-day intensive course addresses the topics that are encountered most frequently when working with the installation team. The program can be specifically designed to meet the needs of the sponsor.”

In addition to the certification, a two-and-a-half day sales associate/ installation manager’s corrective procedures workshop for all flooring surfaces, the first hands-on course of its type offered to the industry, is available.
