Article West Bloomfield, Mich.—Reacting to member pleas, the Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA) has implemented a telephone consultation program with Flynn/Williams LLP, a law firm in California. FCICA will pay for up to one hour of general legal discussion with Sloan Bailey, the lawyer heading up the program who members met during the group’s 25th anniversary convention where he presented “Contract Issues: Indemnity, Payment Provisions & Retainage.”

The program is intended to provide members with a friendly, experienced counselor in construction disputes, said Kim Oderkirk, FCICA’s executive vice president. “It aims to supply members with a general legal overview, educating them about legal issues that are confronting their companies.”

Oderkirk also noted, to the extent that a member is experiencing a serious legal dispute or desires additional work, the law firm can make itself available under a separate arrangement. She said Flynn/Williams LLP will help members locate a local attorney with the right expertise.
