But unlike like most markets Surfaces offers something for everyone in the selling chain, including the last people who will see the end user: installers. As a way to show its support for the installation trade, Hanley Wood, owner of Surfaces, rewarded one lucky installer a free trip to next year’s show, which takes place Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. Roland Thompson, of Kehne’s Carpet One in Frederick, Md., was the winner in the first “Surfaces 2008 CFI Giveaway.” The prize includes round-trip airfare, four nights’ hotel accommodations and a Surfaces conference package consisting of two workshops, five seminars and two 60-minute mini conference sessions. To be eligible the winner must have attended the 14th annual International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI) convention and submitted a Surfaces registration form to be included in a random drawing. “CFI is such a huge supporter of Surfaces and the floor covering industry as a whole that we wanted to demonstrate our support of its members,” said Carol Wilkins, the show’s conference manager. “The CFI convention was the perfect venue for awarding this prize allowing one of the members to experience the breadth of our conference program and see how beneficial it can be for their business.” Thompson, a Master II installer, said he has attended numerous Surfaces “and each year I am more impressed with the amount of education offered to installers.
