| Article | Adairsville, Ga.—Beaulieu Commercial has completed a major step in its ongoing initiative to integrate sound environmental practices throughout its manufacturing and business endeavors. To that end, the mill now offers post-consumer recycled content in 100% of its products. “Incorporating recycled materials in all our products is one more indicator of Beaulieu’s commitment to protecting the environment and preserving natural resources,” said James Lesslie, Beaulieu Commercial’s president. In 2005, the company introduced Nexterra, a modular tile backing containing 85% post-consumer recycled content. Since then, Beaulieu has incorporated recycled content into all its commercial backings. The post-consumer recycled content products qualify for LEED points under the “Material & Resources CR4, Recycled Content” guidelines. To determine the contribution of any Beaulieu Commercial product, the company has an easy-to-use calculator available from its technical services department at 800.451.1250. Fall introductions In other news, Beaulieu Commercial has launched three new designs. Balance, the aptly named introduction from Bolyu, takes its name from a palette of 36 color offerings that reflects a “balance of traditional and unconventional colors” appropriate for a broad selection of design applications. Balance is a 1/10 gauge, solid-color tip sheared loop made of 100% type 6,6 nylon. The most recent style from Cambridge is inspired by the twists and textures of handmade rope. Cordage is a richly tactile, multi-hued style available in broadloom and modular tile. Cordage is made of 1/10 gauge, 100% Avalar SDX premium branded solution-dyed nylon with Puralex, an air refresher that is environmentally friendly and specifically formulated to help purify indoor air environments. Finally, Cambridge added Mystic, a modular tile in a 1/10 gauge textured loop pattern. Offered in four multi-colored blends, its distinctive coloration comes from a unique tufting technology that enables the use of small lots of various colored yarns—diverting useful materials from the manufacturing waste stream and ultimately the public landfill.
