Article Jacksonville, Fla.—The national sales manager for No-Muv for the past 29 years, John F. Morgan Jr. was a respected figure in the flooring industry. On the night of Wednesday, Aug. 15, he passed away unexpectedly. He was 68 years old.

Morgan was at the founding level of the No-Muv Corp., a subsidiary of Mussallem Oriental Rugs, which manufactures patented area rug products. He also set up a unique distribution system throughout the U.S. for No-Muv and was active in several professional associations.

Morgan spent his entire career in the flooring industry with No-Muv and was among the first to be hired by the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company when it was launched in the late 1970s.

“John was not only a dear friend, he was a consummate professional in our industry,” said Charles Mussallem III, president and founder of No-Muv. “John’s absence will be a void that will never be replaced. And he will now and forever be remembered within our organization.”

Morgan was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1938 and moved to Orlando, Fla., in 1948, where he graduated from Boone High School and then went on to graduate from Florida State University School of Advertising.

Following his graduation from Florida State, his first job in advertising was with Ned Hubbard at Bunker-Hubbard in 1964. From there he went to William Cook Advertising and later worked with partners Bill Kemp at Kemp & Morgan and John Carraway at Carraway & Morgan.

Amy Masters, No-Muv’s administrative assistant and Morgan family friend, noted on the first day he came to work for No-Muv, “he told me that I worked with him—not for him. That set the tone for almost 29 years.

“He loved his family, his wife Pat, sons Kenneth, Jack and Mike,” she added. “John also loved his dog Heidi. He loved walking his dog, raising butterflies, boating to St. Augustine for the weekend and fishing. He also did some wildlife photography with his son Jack.

“I have been very lucky to have had someone like John to work with, to travel with and to be such a good friend,” continued Masters. “We were buddies and traveling cohorts. John was the ultimate professional in his dealings with everyone. If he told you something, it was the truth. You could always depend on him to do the right thing, and he always, always kept his promises. You don’t find many of his ilk around today.

“He was funny, had a wicked sense of humor, full of life, caring, honest, truthful and dependable,” she concluded. “I know that’s a big load to carry, but he did it with ease. He was not only a gentleman but a gentle man. He will be missed.”

Morgan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pat; three sons, Kenneth, Jack and Mike; sister, Anita D’Amico and her husband, Joseph; and his sister-in-law, Ruth Isaacs. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Ofelia, Lillian, Elizabeth Morgan, Asia Preston and Sarah.
