| Article | Lewes, Delaware (August 28, 2007) --- The Delmarva area’s leading flooring company, the O.C. Floor Gallery, is teaming up with hotels, motels, restaurants and businesses along Highway One to support Floor It…But Not On The Highway, a highway safety public awareness campaign to promote safe travel through the resort during the long Labor Day holiday weekend. The effort is timed to coincide with stepped up holiday traffic law enforcement in the Delmarva area. “We want this to be a fatality-free weekend,” stated Chris Williams, President, O.C. Floor Gallery. “We want everyone to enjoy a safe ‘end of summer’ visit to the resort to prevent dream vacations from turning into nightmares,” Williams added. Aggressive driving, often associated with speeding, is a contributing factor in an increasing number of fatal car crashes. “We are asking businesses to help us display ‘Floor It…But Not On The Highway’ during the holiday weekend as a reminder to avoid the ticket,” said Williams. “A traffic citation is the best way to ruin an otherwise wonderful weekend.” The campaign has been publicized with the support of the Beebe Medical Center and the Beebe Medical Foundation, the local Chambers of Commerce, Delaware Office of Highway Safety, Delaware State Police, Sussex EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Comcast Spotlight, and Clear Channel Radio. Floor It…But Not On The Highway is an annual highway safety public awareness campaign to enhance highway safety for visitors to the resort areas in Delaware and Maryland. The O.C. Floor Gallery is using the campaign to help support the expansion of the emergency department at Beebe Medical Center. The Atlantic coast beaches in Delaware and Maryland are quickly becoming the resorts of choice among visitors all over the eastern seaboard, bringing significant numbers of out-of-state visitors to the area who are unfamiliar with local and state traffic laws. State and local police in both states plan stepped up patrols during the holiday weekend. For more information, contact Chuck Jackson at the O.C.
