| Article | Fort Lee, NJ – August 29, 2007 - - Commemorating eighty-one impressive years as a leading force in the floorcovering industry, Couristan recently hosted a National Sales Conference, bringing together over sixty members of its domestic and international team. Hosted in Atlanta, August 14th through August 17th, the company celebrated collective achievements in sales and customer service and reviewed innovative new product developments for its area rug and residential broadloom assortments. Since its last conference in 2002, Couristan has completed major enhancements to its Dalton Distribution Center, opened a new manufacturing facility in China, launched new advertising and marketing initiatives and has streamlined its account support capabilities with updates to its online communication tools, shipping procedures and sample merchandise delivery systems. “Despite a challenging global marketplace, Couristan has made great strides in growing our business, thanks to the dedicated team we have built,” stated Couristan’s Chairman, George Couri. “From sophisticated infrastructure improvements to the advancement of our product variety, Couristan has come into a league of our own. We felt it was important to bring the sales force together to review all that has been accomplished and to equip the team with all that is needed to achieve Couristan’s corporate vision for the years to come.” The conference kicked off with the announcement of a new Residential Territory Manager for Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Justin Posada was recently hired for the position and brings to the role four years of sales experience in the floorcovering industry, with particular emphasis on fashion-oriented products. Posada previously handled Karastan’s retail accounts in the San Diego area. As a Residential Territory Manager for Couristan, Posada will be responsible for increasing sales as well as providing sales training and merchandising support to accounts in his region. Posada joins a seasoned crew of accomplished sales professionals, many of whom were honored during Couristan’s Sales Excellence Awards Ceremony. Couristan’s highest accolade went to Andrew Thompson, who received the Chairman’s Award for his outstanding achievements in sales and commitment to professional ethics. During his ten years with the company, Thompson has contributed to the strategic development of Couristan’s Hospitality Concepts Division of Custom Contract Carpet as its Western Regional Manager. Recipients of the Basil J. Couri Award, named after one of the company’s founders, were Catch Molina and Charles Romano. Molina serves as Senior Vice President of Contract Sales and Romano is the Senior Account Manager for the Residential Division, handling dealers in Southern New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut, as well as various national accounts. Both were honored for their outstanding dedication and devotion to the principles and ideals of Couristan. In honor of George J. Couri, a Couristan co-founder and father to its current owners - Ron and George Couri - the George J. Couri Award recognizes outstanding improvements and superior salesmanship. This prestigious award was given to Steven Lewis, a Contract Specialist based out of New Hampshire, and J. Michael Moore, a Residential Territory Manager based in Arizona. In addition, Couristan issued Service Excellence Awards to eleven members of its sales force who have been with the company for more than a decade. Special acknowledgement was made to Charles Berger who recently marked his 28th anniversary with the company. As Eastern Regional Manager for Couristan’s Hospitality Concepts Division of Custom Contract Carpet, Berger is responsible for accounts in Delaware, Maryland, Southern New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia. Twelve people, among both divisions, were acknowledged with the President’s Gold Circle Award in appreciation for exceptional sales achievement, with top annual increases generated by Ross Industries for the Residential Division and Grace Hardison of the Hospitality Concepts Division of Custom Contract Carpet. “As champions of the Couristan brand, our Residential Territory Managers and Contract Specialists are key players who contribute to our ongoing success,” said Ron Couri, President and CEO of Couristan. “Our company has always held high expectations for the sales division and continually invests valuable training and product education in order to assist them in maximizing opportunities within their territories.
