| Article | Orlando, Fla.—After recently putting the wraps on one of the most successful tile and stone conferences in its history, Coverings is already gearing up for the 2008 exposition held here April 29 to May 2. This will be the shows 10th year in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center. However, it has also been announced that in 2009, the tile and stone expo will return to McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, April 21 to 24. The alternating schedule between Orlando and Chicago takes Coverings and the tile and stone industry to the best of all possible worlds, said Tamara Christian, CEO of National Trade Productions (NTP), which manages Coverings. Each venue has its own distinct advantages, both for exhibitors and attendees. And, keep in mind, there are only five cities in the U.S. that have the capacity to house the vast size of Coverings. The show has been continually growing over the last several years, according to Christian. This years attendance hit a record of 37,000 with 1,300 exhibitors, while plans are under way for next years show with reports of an excess of exhibitor applications. The challenge now, noted Christian, is to continue to build on the increases. We know we have committed partners in the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission and in the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, respectively, and are confident they will help us in our continued ascent.
