Article | Astoria, N.Y.—The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) will be conducting a Substrate and Subfloor In-spection course Sept. 4 to 6, at Riccardo’s, 21-01 24th Avenue, here. The three-day event, sponsored by New York Rug Cleaners Institute (NYRCI), will cover issues such as how to use moisture meters, calcium chloride testing, pH testing and indicator dyes. Other topics covered are problems and interaction with moisture, movements, contamination, alkalinity, fasteners, maintenance, adhesives and patching compounds, to name a few. Anyone involved with manufacturing, maintenance, installation, selling, design or inspection of hard surface floor coverings are encouraged to attend. Study materials will be given to those who sign up early in order to gain a head start on some of the more complicated issues. Cost for non-NYRCI members is $650; NYRCI members $595, and includes reference materials, breakfast and lunch. IICRC testing fees are additional.
