Article August 23-25, 2007 is the time to attend the CFI 14th Annual Convention in Kansas City, Missouri for education, excitement and enthusiasm. The theme: “Business is all about Change, Challenge and Choice,” focuses on adding to or improving business skills. CFI installers will share their success stories for financial growth and security that were implemented after becoming active with the organization.

Plan now to attend the industry’s most educational installation event. We guarantee there is something exciting waiting for everyone! The WFCA sponsored Leadership Conference is the kickoff for an exciting Convention that includes learning about the manufacturer’s numerous products, the recipients of the Gress Award, the L. Fishman Chapter Achievement Award, the Associate-sponsored Convention Jacket, an abundance of prizes, the many installation workshops featuring various floor surfaces, motivating speakers, networking and reunion with friends.

Executive Director, Jon Namba, “The 2007 CFI Jacket Sponsors present their products and technical assistance in a new format. This is a highlight of the weekend bringing first hand to the attendees information that improves their bottom line and introduces them to a variety of products, tools and installation supplies. Every year, we gain an enormous amount of information to take to our areas and share with the local installation professionals.”

“The skills courses: Hands-on with tile transitions by Andy Acher of Schulter; Ceramic Tile Installation and Substrate Preparation by Dave Gobis of the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation and Jon Namba; The CFI Business Skills Workshop with CFI installers sharing their experiences as they travel the road to a successful future; New Flooring Ideas and Installation by Tim Provence of Armstrong; Exciting Rubber Products by Don Styka and Dick Schmidt and much more provide the opportunity to become the some of the most knowledgeable installers in our field,” Leon Harrison, CFI President.

Roy Davison, Vice-President, “Five years ago we were introduced to racing at the CFI Convention and received many requests to participate again. This year, an exciting opportunity to race for a CFI Associate to win the advertising page in “The CFI Professional” awaits you at Nascart on August 23rd. The adrenaline race, the squeal of the tires and engines rev at speeds up to 45-mph set the stage for an exciting evening! No, it's not Nascar or Indy, it's Kansas City’s own racing facility designed for an exciting time! Climbing into the 6-horsepowered kart that sits just 1-inch off the ground, racers become a part of the computerized timing system that tracks each kart throughout the race. Racers must be prepared to handle the high speed and the transformation of their peers into fierce competitors that push their karts to the limit maneuvering through the multi-turn course hoping to be the first to see the checkered flag, hear the crowd roar and win for their CFI Associate!”

The CFI Convention is at The Hilton Hotel located just three miles from the Kansas City International Airport is conveniently located, within 15-20 miles for travel to many family fun attractions, such as Worlds of Fun® Theme Park, Oceans of Fun ® Water Park, Truman Sports Complex, home of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, the Riverboat Casinos, Country Club Plaza, Kansas City Speedway-Nascar Track, Cabela’s, Bass Pro and the Harley Davidson Motor Company. A complimentary 24-hour shuttle is available for the 8-minute trip to Kansas City’s newest shopping and entertainment district, Zona Rosa (www.ZonaRosa.com). The prestigious Charles R. Gress Award is presented annually since 1996 in honor of CFI Certified Installer #355 from Cumberland, Ohio who gave above and beyond his talents, time and funds to further the cause of the CFI and professional installation.

The L. Fishman Chapter Achievement Award, given honor of Pat Fell, is awarded annually to the chapter that presents the most educational events to improve the quality of flooring installation. Bob Wagner, President of L. Fishman, “For the third year, L. Fishman will donate $1000.00 to assist a CFI Chapter in promoting installation excellence. As a company, we believe in CFI’s commitment to installation excellence and through the Pat Fell Chapter Achievement Award, we pay tribute to the memory of an outstanding employee and encourage his dream of education and knowledge through the local chapter.” Last year, the first place award was presented to the DelMarVA chapter of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
