| Article | Lancaster, Pa.—The tropical Forest Foundation (TFF) elected Frank Ready, president and CEO of Armstrong Floor Products North America, to its board of directors for a term extending through December 2009. Armstrong and TFF have joined forces promoting responsible forest management. Their relationship ensures that Armstrong wood flooring products meet the highest sustainable forest management standards through third-party verification. “TFF is pleased to have Frank Ready join the board of senior officials from corporate, environmental and academic institutions,” said Keister Evans, executive director of TFF. Armstrong requires its wood suppliers to follow all laws and regulations, including those surrounding raw materials and labor, which adheres to the TFF’s conservation to attain sustainable management of tropical wood in major producing areas. “At Armstrong, we are committed to protecting forests and to promoting responsible forest management practices,” Ready said. Less than 5% of the company’s wood purchases come from tropical forests and, in those instances, Armstrong requires suppliers to produce documentation verifying their adherence to national and international rules and regulations governing specific types of wood species. Senior representatives from Caterpillar, The National Hardwood Lumber Association, Inter-African Industries Associaion (IFIA) and Floresteca S.A. (Brazil) have also recently been elected as TFF directors. For more information on the Tropical Forest Foundation, visit www.tropicalforestfoundation.org. |
