Article | Quebec, Canada—Preverco announced the official opening of its new engineered wood plant in St. Augustin, Quebec. The mill, which designs and manufactures engineered wood flooring in a variety of styles, unveiled the $10 million facility last month. This investment in the expansion of its manufacturing facilities will result in a fivefold increase of plant capacity dedicated to producing engineered hardwood and Preverco’s new PreLoc series. The company has expanded its offerings to consumers as well as its facilities over the past year to respond to increased customer demands for engineered products. “As we continue to increase our presence, it is evermore important to increase our production of engineered flooring,” said Jean-Sébastien Roy, marketing manager at Preverco. “With this expansion, we now have a more flexible manufacturing process that allows us to offer a wider product range and options like our new wire-scraped finish.” Preverco’s plant opening comes along at a time when the company is investing heavily in improving production efficiency. The mill has added a high-tech scanner along with new components in its varnishing lines. The company also launched the Infocenter 2.0 for retailers. The tool, which shows the complete product combination possible from Preverco, includes a new illuminated company logo, six swing wings for samples, a unique back wall full of color swatches, and graphics to help tell the story of the different combination of grades, width and product technology, as well as finish available. The display includes any combination of up to 36 sample boards and 13 informational graphics explaining Preverco’s product offering. The Back wall panel features up to 64 color swatches of all species and colors available and several room scenes help illustrate the product’s appearance and performance in the home. Another item available for the Infocenter 2.0 is a new dress-up kit, which can also be installed on any Preverco display rack to enhance the presentation of the unit. The dress-up kit features two black wood frame sides along with brackets and screws for one or two racks and a Preverco logo header. The Infocenter 2.0 is easily assembled, Roy said, and all Preverco components can be quickly installed to provide consumers with a comprehensive impression of Preverco’s extensive product offering. Finally, Preverco has debuted wider boards on its products. The mill’s Engenius Series line has been extended to offer 5-inch boards. The new widths provide more variety for customers and meet current trends in architectural design, he noted. The collection is durable and aesthetic, and is ideal for any residential, corporate or hospitality-based setting. Roy pointed out that unlike like some engineered flooring, Engenius can be glued, nailed, stapled or even floated. Not peeled or sliced like many imports, the product is actually sawn in just over 5-inch widths, and boasts the longest average length of any Canadian hardwood floor manufacturer. Offered in unique random lengths up to 60 inches, the possibility of creating a pattern effect is eliminated, also allowing for an aesthetically pleasing layout. Preverco’s Engenius flooring is ideal for installation on many surfaces, such as concrete, concrete with radiant heating systems, O.S.B., plywood and a variety of acoustical membranes, noted Roy. The wider boards are graded Select & Better and Character, offering a rustic and genuine look. The mill’s new board varieties are available in five different stains and species.
