Article Hakatai Enterprises Inc., importer and distributor of glass mosaic tile, recently supplied Bradley Stephens Interior Design with 500 square feet of its top-selling Cartglass Classic series of ¾” x ¾” glass tile for the complete renovation and modernization of a four-story townhouse in Scarsdale, New York.

For a new and young family, Bradley Stephens Interior Design was looking to create a clean and modern aesthetic. He utilized Hakatai’s wide range of fashionable glass tile colors and standard mosaic blends to establish continuity throughout this extensive remodel.

The master bath was designed to have a serene, spa-like atmosphere for the work-at-home couple. Bradley Stephens used Classic Series’ Deep Blue as the feature mosaic for the 400-square-foot bath. Mounted on mesh-backed 1.15 sq. ft. sheets, the Deep Blue glass tiles were installed on the shower floors, walls and tub surround, as well as the entire ceiling of the master bath. For contrast, the sink vanity of the master bath was done in the Classic Series’ China Blend, one of the many Classic standard blends available on Hakatai’s website.

To create an open and continuous design flow throughout the home, Bradley Stephens relied on the texture and shape of the Classic Series’ mosaic tile as a unifying element. The different colors and blends were used to enhance each individual room while tying the space together overall. For the guest bathroom, 40 square feet of Classic Series’ Emerald was used on the sink vanity and backsplash and Classic Series’ Jade Blend was installed on the floor.

In the kitchen, a 40-square-foot backsplash, including the entire back wall behind the range and countertop, was done entirely in the Classic Series’ Hail Blend. The combination of the light grey hues in the glass tile beautifully enhanced the deep black marble countertop.

And finally, for the children’s master bathroom, Stephens envisioned creating a space where brushing one’s teeth might actually become an exciting nightly task. To add energy to this bathroom and continue the unity established in the design of the rest of the home, a playful standard mosaic blend of Classic Series’ Light Blue/Ice Green was used on the floor and the Classic Series’ color Sky Blue was used on the sink vanity.

Bradley Stephens became familiar with Hakatai during past work as an architect for a large firm in New York. When he decided to open his own interior design firm three years ago, he was quick to remember the color options and the versatility provided by Hakatai’s growing collection of fashionable glass tile programs.

“When I was working for an architectural firm as their designer, Hakatai sent us samples through the mail and we ended up using them on several jobs,” said Stephens. “When I left to start my own company, I requested a full sample kit from Hakatai. The biggest reason we wanted to continue to work with them is all of the new products that are coming out lately, like the repeating patterns and the standard gradients. But the other reason was that their customer service is incredible. Our orders are always exact and arrive right on time. When we need more … we get it at a moments notice.”
