| Article | DALTON, GA, June 10, 2007—On May 13, Karastan carpets made an appearance on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on the ABC Television Network. The carpets grace the floors of a home that fills the dreams of a deserving family in Kansas City, Missouri. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition teamed with Kevin Green Homes of Parkville, MO to build the special house.When it came time for flooring, Kevin Green called on Weber Carpet, a Karastan dealer with four locations throughout Kansas and Missouri. Weber, in turn, contacted Karastan who generously donated 150 square yards of wool carpet for the project. The carpet, along with all the hard-surface flooring, was professionally installed by Weber. The dream home was built for two hardworking parents who had sacrificed everything to keep their family together. The couple had four children of their own when they took in five nieces and nephews to keep them out of foster care. Their big hearts were an ill-match for the small 912-square-foot structure they called home. The house started to crumble under the strain of a dozen family members and the parents became in danger of losing their nieces and nephews to Social Services. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came to the rescue with a beautiful home that eases their burden and keeps their family together. “We are proud to support the efforts of Extreme Maekover: Home Edition,” says Troy Workman, territory representative for Karastan. “Giving back to those in need is a value we share with many of our retailers, like Weber Carpet, who continually volunteer time and resources to better their communities.” Karastan provided the family with two rooms of carpet for their new home: 50 yards of French Check in color Green Check for the grandfather’s fishing-theme room and 100 yards of Worsted Stria in color Golden Topaz for the lower-level family room. After the show aired, Weber Carpet ran a :30 television commercial, co-oped by Karastan, to congratulate the family. Photos of the Jacobo home are featured on karastan.com and abc.go.com. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which has won back-to-back Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is in its 4th season on ABC.
