Article LeGrange, Ga.—MilliCare announced it is the first company to receive the Carpet & Rug Institute’s (CRI) Seal of Approval for Deep Cleaning Systems for its dry-based professional cleaning method.

Though the company’s cleaning products were previously CRI certified for effective cleaning and spot removal, the new certification covers the cleaning system itself—equipment, dry cleaning polymer, pre-mist and procedures.

“CRI has so far only approved hot water extraction machines or systems for the deep cleaning Seal of Approval (SOA),” said Stephen Lewis, MilliCare’s technical director.

To become CRI certified, deep-cleaning methods must prove an acceptable rate of soil removal, and water removal if applicable, without damaging or changing the carpet fibers or texture. It also should not alter color or have a high rate of resoiling.
