Article MEMPHIS, TENN.—The Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association (NOFMA) recently shifted its views on wood installation methods, releasing a TIP (technical information paper) sheet including the proper way to glue down NOFMA-certified solid wood floors directly to slab, according to the wood association.

Previously the group did not acknowledge glue-down as a recommended procedure for this type of flooring. NOFMA restated its position with the help of its technical committee and due to the advancement of glues as well as the strict manufacturing standard for NOFMAcertified wood flooring.

“As technology changes, we should re-evaluate our positions,” said Mickey Moore, NOFMA’s technical director. “However, we will always dedicate ourselves to providing the most accurate, informative and useful technical information and instruction where the end result is a properly performing wood floor.”

The TIP sheet can be downloaded for free or can be purchased for $5 by visiting www.NOFMA.org/gluedown.
