| Article | ST. LOUIS—The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) announced the winners of its 2007 Floor of the Year Contest during its recent annual convention in Denver. The Wood Floor of the Year Awards were developed to encourage and recognize innovative craftsmanship and design in wood flooring installations, noted Ed Korczak, NWFA’s executive director. “Since the program began in 1990, 156 awards have been presented to NWFA member companies throughout the United States and Canada, as well as Russia and Finland.” This year’s Wood Floor of the Year Contest yielded a record 215 entries from six countries, including the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia and the Czech Republic. All entries in the competition featured flooring installations completed between February 2006 and January 2007. Winning entries were judged by NWFA members via online voting this past March. Eleven awards were presented in 10 categories during a reception held on Wednesday, April 18. Wood Floor of the Year Awards for 2007 are as follows: Best Kitchen/Dining Room Johnson Yarema Hardwood Floors, Troy, Mich. Best Living Room/Family Room Birger Juell, Chicago Best Library/Office Czar floors, Newtown, Pa. Best Bedroom DM Hardwood Designs, Mission Viejo, Calif. Best Entry/Foyer Mt. Impressions Hardwood Flooring, Carbondale, Colo. Best Entry/Foyer Enmar Hardwood Flooring, Mesa, Ariz. Best Commercial/Showroom Czar Floors, Newtown, Pa. Best Restoration Czar Floors, Newtown, Pa.
