Article | Dulles, Va.—Shaw Industries contracted ODIN technologies to extend its RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) usage to 37 of its distribution sites in the U.S. Originally in partnership with ODIN in 2006 to pilot a solution for supply chain visibility and retailer compliance, the total number of RFID enabled U.S. sites today is 40. “Our proof of concept implementation confirmed our contention that an accurate RFID infrastructure can improve supply chain visibility,” said Jim Nielsen, manager of technology planning for Shaw. “We look forward to leveraging RFID to further improve operational efficiency and customer service.” With the new system implemented, Shaw has real time visibility into the status of trucks and customer orders in its distribution network. This allows Shaw to be more effective and to provide its customers with accurate shipping details. “Shaw Industries is an innovator in leveraging new technology to improve operational efficiency and provide more value to its customers,” said Partick J. Sweeny II, president and CEO of ODIN. “Clearly another multi-site deployment of RFID shows continued industry maturity and demonstrates that companies are driving tangible business value from RFID.” |
