Article • Chris McKee replaced David Motyl as CEO of Amtico International North America at the end of March. McKee brings more than 18 years of experience in the industry, most recently as general manager, flooring services for The Home Depot. Motyl spent 16 years with Amtico.

• Beaulieu of America has brought in industry veteran Jeff Meadows to the newly created position of executive vice president of its Residential Division. Most recently vice president of Shaw Industries’ Shaw Living rug division, Meadows has served in multiple executive positons during his 24-year industry career. Reporting to Ralph Boe, Beaulieu’s president and COO, he is charged with directing the mill’s residential sales and marketing efforts.

• Carpet One Floor & Home announced the appointment of Barbara Everk as president of Advance Carpet One Floor & Home, the company’s corporate stores in St. Louis. “With her experience in retail sales and knowledge of the home furnishings industry, she will be an incredible asset to the Advance Carpet One Floor & Home stores and to Carpet One Floor & Home as a whole,” said Charlie Dilks, COO of Carpet One.

• The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) Board of Directors announced Scott Carothers will be its new executive director, effective April 15. Carothers owns Long’s Tile Company and brings 26 years of experience in the ceramic tile industry to CTEF. He has previously served on the board of the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) for 12 years.

• Greg Pray has been promoted to president of Columbia Flooring. “Since joining Columbia last September as executive vice president, Greg has done an outstanding job of setting the direction and gaining the confidence of the division,” said Harry Demorest, president and CEO of Columbia Forest Products.

• Tile manufacturer Florim USA has hired Ron Spezzaferri and Gene Dingman as regional vice presidents of sales for the East and West regions, respectively. Spezzaferri is a 20-year industry veteran with the last 13 as a regional manager for Crossville, while Dingman brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, most recently from StonePeak. Also, Richard Anderson has been brought in as East Coast sales manager for its Esquire brand. A 20-year tile industry veteran, Anderson spent the past five years as Northeast sales manager for American Marazzi.

• Formica Flooring announced Mike Havas has joined its sales team as Northeast regional sales manager. Havas has 25 years of experience in the flooring industry, the last 22 in distribution. He most recently worked for Appolo Distributing Co. as residential sales and product manager.

• Helmitin Adhesives has promoted Tim Mizell to national sales manager. Originally industrial sales manager for the specialty adhesives manufacturer, he will now be responsible for managing and directing the entire North American sales team.

• Invista recently welcomed Melissa Noebes as marketing communications and brand manager for its commercial and transportation business. In her new position Noebes will handle overall communications and brand management, including an integrated plan paralleled with business objectives, increasing awareness and preference for the Antron brand. She brings over 20 years of communications experience to the job.

• Ken Peden has been promoted by Kronotex USA to COO and will be responsible for the entire scope of its North American laminate flooring business including sales, marketing, distribution, manufacturing and product development. Peden originally joined the company as executive vice president last June 1.

• With its expansion into central and northern New Jersey, Lane Sales was able to complete its five-year goal to become a key sales agency in the Tri-State area nine months in advance. Dan Cascio has been named the territory manager for this area.

• Masland’s Paul Breland has moved back to Mobile, Ala., to become executive vice president of hospitality for the company’s contract business. The 20-year Masland employee was most recently in Denver, where he served as vice president for the central U.S.

• Last year Panariagroup Industrie Ceramiche S.p.A. purchased Florida Tile (FCNews, March 6/13). In accordance with the acquisition the following management changes will take place this year: Buck Burwell, CEO since 2004, departed last month. John Corcoran left as CFO the end of March, and on May 31 Bill Powers will leave as senior vice president for sales, marketing and distribution. Going forward, Bernie Schwartz, vice president, will continue to be responsible for manufacturing; and Massimo Barbari will be vice president/CFO responsible for finance, accounting and business operations. They will report to Giuliano Pini, CEO of Panariagroup, and Emilio Mussini, president of Florida Tile.

• Preverco has hired Mark Stecky as sales rep for the Midwest. He will be responsible for developing the hardwood mill’s expanding U.S. market in the Dakotas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana. An eight-year wood flooring veteran, Stecky comes to Preverco from Herragan Distributors.

• Bob Chambers has been promoted to the newly created position of director of sales for Salesmaster Associates. An employee of the wholesaler since 1986, he most recently served as metro New York sales manager. His new position adds sales management and strategic planning to his areas of responsibility.

• Solutia has made a couple of promotions to further strengthen its Wear-Dated brand. David Goldschmidt, formerly mid-America regional manager, has been moved up to director of sales, where he will be responsible for all Wear-Dated carpet fiber retail sales. Also, Greer Leisz has gone from a rep in Indiana to regional manager of the newly reorganized central region, which now includes Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky.

• Suddekor has promoted Dennis Connor to inside sales manager. In his new role, he will manage the sales relationships between the company’s Agawam, Mass., printing plant and East Longmeadow, Mass., treating plant.
