| Article | (Kansas City, MO) The partnership of CFI and the World Floor Covering Association in training presents another in the series of workshops designed for those involved in technical services, claims, sales, installation and inspection of carpet. At Ryman Hall in Dalton, GA on May 9-10, 2007, Jim Walker and the CFI Team of Trainers will present the Installation Workshop for Inspectors. The workshop is designed for those who represent the installation, technical and claims departments of the carpet manufacturers and dealers. Information is provided to strengthen communication with the installers in the field. The workshop will also assist in understanding of how to identify installation problems and provide solutions. A major emphasis will be placed on patterned carpet installation; working with pattern tolerances, aligning patterns and rectifying difficult situations. Jim Walker and a CFI Team of Trainers present the course using demonstrations and exhibits for a thorough understanding of providing the customer with what is expected at the time of the sale. To obtain the “CFI Installation for the Inspector” designation, a test is administered at the conclusion of the course. “Installation for the Inspector” will focus on the most common complaints and procedures. Those who attend enhance their knowledge to address difficult situations before they occur and if necessary, gain additional knowledge that will provide solutions to achieve customer satisfaction. The focus is the inspection of carpet. Attendees are invited to bring topics for discussion. Each attendee will receive the CFI Installation Inspector Resource Guide. Participants who successfully complete the final test become members of CFI and are listed on the Internet and in the printed annual directory as a “CFI Installation Inspector” for one year. Annual dues are $100.00. This is not a CFI Certification, but an educational course to be used as a “tool” to achieve customer satisfaction. The CFI Study Guide is sent when registration is received. The CFI Installation Inspector Course Topics includes: • Building Partnerships with the Installation Network • Seam Construction in Various Types of Carpets – Procedures and Techniques • Powerstretching Techniques – Use of a Kneekicker - Restretch Procedures • Seam Sealers – Adhesives • Lighting Effects on Seaming - Seam Placement - Seam Peaking - Seaming Limitations • Stretch-in Over Cushion Installation Techniques and use of correct cushion • Direct Glue Installation - Double-Glue Installation - Attached Cushion Installation • The Importance of Understanding Carpet Backings • Professional Installation Requirements - Installation Checklist – Writing a report • How to Identify Installation-Related Problems • Bow-Skew-Pattern Elongation Diagrams – Pattern Identification - Correction of Patterned Carpet Problems The cost for the two-day workshop is $375.00 for members and $475.00 for non-members. May 9th, the program begins at 9:00am and concludes at 4:30pm and continues on May 10th from 8:00am until 3:30pm at the Ryman Hall, 2203 South Dixie Road in Dalton, Georgia 30720.
