Article • Christopher Wood has returned to the family business, Advanced Adhesives Technolo-gies (AAT), as the company’s director of operations. Prior to leaving AAT for a career in information technology systems management, he held positions in quality control and purchasing. In his new role, Wood will manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the glue maker, including product development, manufacturing and finance. In addition, he will oversee AAT’s new, 28,000- square-foot facility.

• Alloc has appointed Kevin Murphy vice president of sales to replace Dennis Mohn who left the company to pursue “a new challenge in the wood flooring industry.” The 20-year industry veteran comes to the laminate manufacturer from The Carpenter Co., where he held management positions in national sales and national accounts. Murphy is charged with leading and growing Alloc’s sales in North America.

• Avalon Carpet Tile & Flooring, one of the industry’s largest specialty dealers, has promoted two managers to key corporate positions. Marc Martorano has been named vice president of carpet and related products, and Sean O’Rourke has been named vice president of hard surfaces.

• Paul England has joined BonaKemi USA as vice president of operations. He comes to the hardwood floor finishing and floor care company from AJM Packing Corp. and prior to that Rock Tenn Co., where as executive vice president and division general manager, he helped grow the small business to a Fortune 500 company with over $1 billion in sales. England will be responsible for managing Bona’s new Monroe, N.C., plant, along with all other company operations, including logistics, purchasing and outsourcing. In other news, John Fairbanks recently joined Bona as regional contractor manager for the Southeast. The 14-year industry veteran will be responsible for educating and training contractors and distribution personnel on Bona’s systems in Florida, southern Georgia and southern Alabama.

• Brintons, maker of custom woven Axminster carpet, has expanded its design team with a number of additions. First, Elaine Traynor has joined as senior design consultant. She brings 17 years of design experience to her new post including working as contract carpet designer with Stoddard International and BMK Limited Kilmarnock. In addition to Traynor, Sarita Peterson and Harold Lambert have been named field designers for the state of Texas and Las Vegas, respectively.

• Ellen Siminoff has joined the board of BuildDirect, a leading online wholesaler of flooring and other building materials. She is currently president and CEO of Efficient Frontier, a provider of paid search engine marketing solutions, and was part of the founding executive team at Yahoo!

• Centiva has added Ed Sweeney and his company, Ed Sweeney Enterprises, to its team. He will be responsible for overseeing the resilient mill’s expansion in the Canadian market. Sweeney brings over 30 years experience in the North American flooring industry, including president of Compass Flooring, a leading commercial distributor in Ontario, and Canadian regional manager for Altro safety flooring.

• Columbia Flooring has named Lance Rooney vice president of sales and marketing. He comes to the wood and laminate maker from high pressure laminate manufacturer Nevamar Co., where he was director of sales.

• Crossville has appointed Frank Douglas vice president of business development. A 10-year company veteran with 30 years of tile industry experience, he was most recently director of national accounts.

• Lee Blair has been promoted to senior vice president of Durkan Hospitality, a division of the Mohawk Group. In this role, he will be responsible for the brand’s sales, marketing, design, support and product direction. Blair was most recently director of national accounts.

• Mark Bye is the new president and CEO of DyStar. Bye replaces Phil Norment and Rudolf Strobl, who were acting as DyStar’s CEO and deputy CEO, respectively.

• With the addition of a third national sales region, Fabrica’s national accounts vice president Andy Kuehnel has been given the additional title of vice president for the Western region. In a related move, Craig Ulfig has been named to the newly created position of vice president for the Central region. Ulfig comes to Fabrica from sister company Masland Carpets, where he was territory manager for Colorado and northern New Mexico.

• FCA Network has appointed Ted Kuderko regional manager of business development. He will be responsible for growing the buying group in the Ohio Valley and East Coast regions. Kuderko has 15 years of retail flooring experience.

• Jeff Tolle has joined rubber and vinyl floor manufacturer Flexco as a regional sales manager. He will cover Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Wisconsin.

• Kronotex USA has hired Paul Zagorski to its Formica Flooring sales team. A 23-year veteran of sales, most recently with a flooring distributor in Florida, he was names Southeast regional sales manager and will work with the company’s newest wholesaler, William M. Bird Co.

• With the addition of Natalie Jones as director of marketing for Mannington Commercial, Jack Ganley, president, said the division’s executive management team is now complete. She brings over 12 years of commercial carpet experience to the job, most recently as vice president of brand management for Lees. Jones joins Alex Jauregui, vice president of sales; Peggy McGee, director of product development, and Gan-ley on the management team.

• Allen Parker has been promoted to senior vice president of fashion brands for The Mohawk Group. In his new role, Parker is responsible for sales, marketing, design, support and product direction for Karastan Contract and Durkan Commercial. Prior to this position, he led custom development and design initiatives first for Lees Carpets and more recently for The Mohawk Group.

• David Forman joined Nourison as director of marketing. He will lead the company’s marketing and promotion efforts including all consumer and trade events, publicity, advertising and internal corporate communications. At the same time, Matt Biltz will take on the new role of creative director. In addition, William Barlage and Patrick Malone have each been named regional managers. Barlage has been with the rug maker for three years, and will handle the Midwest and Eastern Canada. Malone has been with Nourison for just six months and will be heading up the Northeast.
