Article Columbia, S.C—J.J. Haines on Dec. 1 will open a 20,000-square-foot distribution facility here, which is centrally located to all points in South Carolina and allows for easy access to Charlotte and western North and South Carolina.

“We see significant growth opportunities in our southern region, especially in South Carolina,” said Bruce Zwicker, president and CEO.

The new warehouse will provide expanded capacity and improved delivery service to many new and existing customers. According to Fred Reitz, vice president of operations, one major factor behind Haines’ decision to locate in central South Carolina is the excellent interstate transportation system that will help provide the delivery service. “We plan to have an initial fleet of four trucks and 10 new employees working out of the new facility,” he said.

Scott Roy, vice president, sales, noted that the opportunities for sales growth in South Carolina are strong, especially with new customers not familiar with J.J. Haines. “While this isn’t an entirely new market for us, our customers in South Carolina haven’t experienced the strong Haines service and delivery model that we have in other areas,” he said. “Our initial plan is to add two account executives and focus their attention on the fast growing product categories, including ceramic, laminate and wood.”

This will be J.J. Haines’ sixth distribution warehouse and most southern location. Other locations include Oaks, Pa.; Baltimore; Richmond, Va.; Wytheville, Va., and Goldsboro, N.C.
