Article • Shaw Industries recently appointed Hal Long executive vice president of operations. He will be responsible for the following functions: manufacturing, distribution, quality, logistics, research and development, and sourcing. In conjunction with the transition from his previous role as vice president of the commercial division, commercial manufacturing and research and development will fall under the auspices of the operations team. More changes and promotions within Shaw: Tim Baucom is the new vice president of the commercial division charged with sales and marketing; Bob Chandler has been promoted to vice president of commercial sales; and Brenda Knowles is now vice president of commercial marketing. Chandler and Knowles will both report to Baucom.

• Tarkett last month appointed Guillaume Clement vice president of sales and marketing, residential, North America. He is charged with constructing, developing and directing all sales and marketing functions for the wood, resilient and laminate segments. He most recently was controller for the residential division.

• Recent changes at Oriental Weavers include: the promotion of Jonathan Witt to executive vice president of marketing, a newly created position; Kim Reynolds to vice president of marketing; and Brad Baird to executive director of operational planning. Witt and Baird report to Mike Riley, president of Oriental Weavers North America, while Reynolds reports to Witt.

• Kronotex USA recently tapped Tim Tipton as national sales director. He will be charged with the recently revived Formica Flooring brand. Tipton was previously at Quick•Step, where he served as director of retail sales and director of the company’s builder division. He brings 16 years of flooring experience to the Kronotex team.

• Greg Pray has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president of Columbia Flooring. He joins the company from high-pressure laminate manufacturer Nevamar, where he most recently held the position of director of distribution and marketing services. He will work closely with David Wootton, president, Columbia, who intends to retire in 2007. Pray’s appointment is part of the transition that will take place next year.

• British woven carpet manufacturer Brintons has appointed Jonathan Young CEO of Brintons Americas. He replaces Jon Stone, who now leads the company’s global commercial division. Young has more than 25 years experience in the commercial carpet industry.

• Wood Flooring International recently announced two positional changes and one new hire: Andy Gallo goes from COO to vice president of sales for its new commercial division, Wood Floor Resource Group; Todd Good has been promoted from national sales manager to vice president of sales; and Mike Tucker joins the company as COO. He previously worked as a controller at Mannington.

• Frank Austin is the new national sales manager for Owens Flooring Co., manufacturer of Plankfloor engineered wood flooring. He was previously the sales and marketing manager.

• Software provider QFloors has retained the services of John Lunsford to lead its sales efforts. He has experience at all levels of the industry, from retail (CCA Global Partners) to manufacturing (World Carpet Mills).
