Article Between September 10th and 15th the Minister of State for Trade, H.E. Kursad Tuzman, will lead a trade delegation of Turkish businessmen to New York and Chicago for a series of meetings with U.S. companies. The goal is to increase the visibility of Turkish products in the United States and create new market opportunities for the Turkish businesses.

Eighteen companies will participate, mostly from the textile and apparel sector but also from the ceramic and natural stone sector, the steel sector and the petroleum sector. Turkish textile and apparel is sold extensively in the United States with exports totaling about $2 billion in 2005. Overall, all Turkish exports to the United States totaled about $5 billion last year.

Turkish textiles and apparel are found in major department stores like Bloomingdales, Macy's, H&M, Banana Republic and others. They are sold under private label as well as name brands including LaCoste, Hugo Boss as well.

Turkish natural stone products (marble and travertine) can be found in large retailers like Home Depot and Lowe's. They also stock Turkish ceramic products.

Turkey is currently the world's 4th largest clothing manufacturer and 12th largest textile manufacturer. It is the world's 20th largest economy and will overtake Sweden this year.
